Job Description
The University of New Orleans invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Creative Writing with expertise in Fiction (at least one book published or under contract) and a secondary expertise in Creative Non-Fiction is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate fiction courses and other courses offered by the Department of Language and Literature. The position will also involve mentoring students through thesis projects and participating in the Creative Writing Workshop and community service.

Requirements

  • At least one published (or under contract) book in fiction
  • MFA or Ph.D. in Creative Writing in hand by date of hire (August 2026)
  • Evidence of teaching excellence
