Job Description
HDR is seeking an Assistant Structures Representative to perform construction inspections, calculations, and administrative tasks for structure construction engineering and inspection projects. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of education and 4 years of experience in structure construction inspection, with a valid driver's license and certifications in ASTM or CTM methods. Requirements

  • Perform construction inspections to assure materials and workmanship incorporated into each highway construction project and appurtenances are in conformity with the requirements of the approved plans and specifications
  • Take appropriate action when materials and workmanship are non-conforming
  • Perform calculations related to the proper alignment and placement of bridge and structures elements
  • Assist the Structures Representative with calculations related to and the review of shop drawings
  • Confer with the Construction Contractors regarding compliance with plans, quality of work, construction activity and California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations
  • Collaborate with other project personnel regarding the Construction Contractor's compliance with regulatory permit agencies requirements
  • Identify the need for and the preparation of contract related documents
  • Complete daily diaries of Construction Contractor's construction activities being performed, inspections performed, tests taken, and materials placed
  • Develop contract quantity estimate documents at least once monthly and as materials are placed
  • Record and file project related records pertaining to construction progress
