Job Description
GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Substation CAD Operator 1 to support Substation projects. The successful candidate will perform CAD work and project support under engineering supervision. The role requires working with engineering and technical subject matter experts in all aspects of electrical substation and protections & controls design services.

Requirements

  • Opening, revising, plotting, and saving of drawing CAD files.
  • Assist in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
  • Knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD package.
  • Ability to learn multiple software platforms including, but not limited to, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Attend project-specific meetings as required.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under the pressure of deadlines and unexpected developments.
  • Ability to work extended hours or after hours when required.
  • Learning and helping to find ways to improve GAI Engineering CAD Standards.
  • Effective communication with the project team
  • Ability to learn AutoCAD Electrical smart functions and relationships.
  • General Characteristics
  • Able to identify inconsistencies in drawings and communicate these issues of concern to his or her supervisor
  • Able to take and follow verbal instruction
  • Basic 2-D line work and text edits as well as ACADE smart functions. Plot and create PDF drawings. Perform red-line edits. Follows basic QA/QC procedures. Assist with general office function such as printing and issuing drawings and drawing packages.
