Job Description
Role Overview

The Assistant Transportation Analyst will support community outreach and stakeholder engagement efforts for transportation projects, assist with the preparation of public-facing materials, and help communicate technical information in a clear and accessible manner. The candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to improving transportation in the city through various transportation projects. The role involves supporting senior staff in the development of CEQR tools, reviewing schematic geometric designs, and coordinating with representatives from other agencies on Department studies and projects.

What You Will Do

The candidate will assist with the review of environmental studies conducted under the CEQR/SEQR/NEPA processes, support traffic operations and safety studies by collecting and reviewing data, and assist with analyses of intersections and pedestrian facilities. The candidate will also help evaluate transportation operations and support the development of recommendations aimed at reducing congestion, improving mobility, and enhancing safety for all street users.

The candidate will be expected to work with a variety of analysis tools, including Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, and other traffic simulation models.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to the duties described above
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above
