Role Overview

The Division of Transportation Planning and Management (TPM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City’s streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working, and doing business in New York City. The Division’s responsibilities include planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility, and markings to ensure the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists. Within TPM, the Traffic Engineering & Planning (TEP) unit is responsible for conducting, reviewing, and approving traffic engineering analyses and methodologies related to all aspects of traffic operations, safety and transportation planning, from curb cuts to area-wide studies.

What You Will Do

Assist with a variety of transportation planning, traffic engineering, and environmental review activities, including collecting, organizing, and reviewing transportation data, assisting with traffic operations and safety studies, conducting field observations, and helping evaluate conditions at intersections and pedestrian facilities.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college
