Role Overview

The Assistant Vice President, Residential Property Management will provide operational leadership across a large apartment portfolio, ensuring execution of company initiatives, financial objectives, and service standards. This role serves as the primary operational partner to the Vice President of California Property Management, overseeing the day-to-day performance of an assigned portfolio of approximately 4,000–6,000 apartment homes through the leadership of Regional Directors.

Responsibilities include portfolio leadership, team development, operational excellence, financial performance, compliance & risk management, and resident experience. The successful candidate will lead, coach, and develop Regional Directors, translate strategic portfolio objectives into actionable business plans, and implement initiatives to improve portfolio performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field (Master's degree or CPM designation preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in multifamily property management
  • Experience overseeing large apartment portfolios of approximately 3,000+ units
  • Proven success leading Regional Directors and high-performing management teams
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, occupancy, revenue growth, expense control, and NOI
  • Thorough knowledge of California housing laws, operational compliance, and multifamily best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and implement operational improvements
  • Experience with Yardi, RealPage, or similar property management software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
