Job Description
The Boeing Company is seeking an Associate Composites Materials Process & Physics Engineer to support the BTI Advanced Production & Automation team in Tukwila, WA. The team develops and production-hardens new automated manufacturing technologies for aircraft parts. The ideal candidate will work with experienced mentors to create requirements for the fabrication, assembly, and test of composites components.

Requirements

  • Support development and optimization of composite materials—prepregs, adhesives, and core materials—and related consumables
  • Develop and validate automated manufacturing processes (e.g. pick and place, lamination, automated fiber placement, green trim, forming, etc)
  • Perform materials characterization and testing: mechanical (tensile, compression, shear), thermal (DMA, TGA, DSC), moisture uptake and microscopy to characterize processes
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize experimental data; prepare test reports and present findings to the team
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and process control plans for production transitions
  • Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions for material and process related nonconformances
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and material qualification activities
  • Follow safety, quality and environmental procedures in the lab and manufacturing areas
