Habitat for Humanity International Area Office for Europe and Middle East (HFHI AO EME) is seeking Associate Director- Advocacy and EU Public Affairs who will serve as the European lead on affordable housing and EU government related advocacy, supporting these efforts across EME region.
What would be your responsibilities?
• Shape EU policy on affordable housing: Closely follow relevant European housing-related policies and processes - notably the European Affordable Housing Plan, ensuring Habitat’s proactive engagement, through research, convening, representation, provision of technical assistance etc. (20%)
• Drive advocacy to influence accessible housing policies & mechanisms: Advocate for accessible housing priorities in EU funding frameworks (e.g: Multiannual Financial Framework), with a thematic focus on Empty Spaces & Social Rental (20%)
• Advocacy strategy & implementation: Pursue the strategic direction and priorities of the HFHI-Brussels strategy related to key EU institutions to leverage support for the HFHI’s global impact, with a focus Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) targets & processes (20%)
• Coordinate and amplify national insights: Work with National Organizations and Global Funding Networks to inform and connect local advocacy to EU-level influence (position briefings etc.) (15%)
• Engage with European networks: Represent Habitat in European coalitions and policy forums and events that forward HFH’s advocacy agenda. (15%)
• Promote learning: Promote regional and global learning across the network of EU opportunities in support of the global strategic plan and EME regional strategy. (10%)
What do we require?
• A University degree is required
• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in a similar or directly relevant role
• Extensive working knowledge of national and international government structures and multi-lateral institutions, and complex housing issues, especially in Europe and Middle East regions.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically
• Strong organizational and management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and high proficiency in coaching, consultancy and advisory roles
• High proficiency in English both written and spoken

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package.
The monthly gross pay starts at 4491 EUR / month (based on previous experience + benefits).
