Job Description
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Division of Environmental Health is seeking a dedicated Associate Rodentologist to join their Rodent Control team. This role focuses on preventing and controlling illness and injury related to environmental and occupational health risks through outreach, education, surveillance, and enforcement, particularly in communities most impacted by rodent-related health risks. The position involves assisting with data-driven mitigation strategies, applying IPM principles, and collaborating with field teams.

Requirements

  • Assist with ongoing surveillance and mapping of rat populations.
  • Assist with designing and implementing community-integrated pest management approaches.
  • Assist with and supports applied research on urban rat ecology.
  • Collaborate with field teams to refine pest control procedures.
  • Prepare and conduct presentations to Bureau of Veterinary and Pest Control team members.
