Role OverviewThe Attorney II will provide legal assistance to HRA and DHS program areas, draft legal documents, represent the Commissioner in judicial proceedings, negotiate on behalf of the Agency, and perform other related tasks. The role is part of the Support and Lien Recovery Litigation Unit (SLRLU) and requires the ability to work independently and make decisions with latitude.
What You Will Do
The main day-to-day responsibilities include providing legal assistance, drafting legal documents, representing the Commissioner in court, negotiating on behalf of the Agency, and conducting legal research and analysis. The role requires a high level of sophistication and independence.

Requirements
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar
- Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086)
- Membership in the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of employment
