Role Overview

This is a full-time OPS position that performs major and minor repairs on all types of equipment assigned to the Florida Forest Service. The incumbent must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) within six months of appointment. The position requires occasional to moderate travel and may respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or other type incidents requiring travel.

What You Will Do

Performs major and minor repairs on all types of equipment, including complete overhaul of engine, transmission, and other drive components. Repairs both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment systems, such as cooling systems, fuel injection systems, and carburetors. Assists in development, implementation, and constant review of the preventive maintenance program.

The successful applicant will be subject to pre-employment and annual queries through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. Requirements

  • Six (6) months of experience in heavy equipment or automotive repair work.
  • Certificate of completion from a technical school for automotive/heavy equipment repair can substitute for the required experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
