Role Overview

The Barista Trainer will be responsible for communicating effectively with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and using positive reinforcement to support skill development. The role involves creating a welcoming customer experience, preparing and serving high-quality beverages, and maintaining consistent standards. The trainer will also serve as an on-the-job trainer and role model for individuals with IDD participating in supported employment and skills training within the coffee shop.

What You Will Do

The Barista Trainer will break down job tasks into clear, manageable steps, adapt instruction methods to meet individual learning styles, and use patience, encouragement, and positive reinforcement to impart instructions. The trainer will also model appropriate workplace behaviors, provide hands-on instruction in core barista and café tasks, and collaborate with supervisors and job coaches to reinforce training plans.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, multitasking abilities, and basic math skills. Previous barista or customer service experience is preferred, but not required. The candidate should also have a genuine interest in learning about coffee, brewing techniques, and latte art.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • Flexibility to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays

  • Previous barista or customer service experience (preferred)
  • Food Handler's Card through the Clay County Department of Public Health
  • Class E driver's license
