Before and After School Lead Teacher

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Before and After School Lead Teacher to support the YMCA Child Care Program year-round. The role involves working with school-aged children, maintaining positive relationships with parents, and promoting a positive environment that fosters fun, safety, and YMCA values.

What You Will Do

Key responsibilities include conducting parent conferences, working closely with the program director and branch leadership team, providing feedback and delivering on the onboarding of new site staff, and ensuring the program maintains conformance with all YMCA policies and procedures.

You will be a good fit if you enjoy working with school-aged children, have previous experience working with children in a childcare setting, and are committed to completing STARS training within 60 days of hire and all WA State educational requirements within 4 years from hire.

Requirements

• 21 years old
• 2 years of full-time management experience (preferred)
• 12 or more college quarter credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, and Elementary Education or equivalent educational background
• certified in Infant-Child CPR and Basic First Aid
• valid Food Handlers Permit or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
• able to successfully complete required DCYF background and fingerprint checks
• able to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on your first day
• reliable transportation
• ability to assist at other childcare sites as needed
