Role Overview

As a Benefits Specialist, you'll work directly with individuals referred through the Division of Aging, Disability, and Behavioral Health Services (DADBHS), guiding them through eligibility, application, and appeals processes for local, state, and federal benefits. You'll educate and counsel consumers on public benefits programs, assist with applications and eligibility evaluations, and represent clients in administrative appeals under attorney direction.

Key responsibilities include educating and counseling consumers on public benefits programs, assisting with applications and eligibility evaluations, representing clients in administrative appeals, providing outreach and public education, maintaining accurate records and documentation, and upholding confidentiality and ethical standards.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (preferably in human services) or RN license, at least one year of experience with aging adults or individuals with disabilities, knowledge of public benefits programs, strong communication and organizational skills, cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and discretion.
