Role OverviewThe NYC Department of Buildings is responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code, and Zoning Resolution. This position performs work in the inspection of the condition, design, operation, and installation of steam boilers and other pressure vessels for conformity with NYC Construction Codes, Department rules, other pertinent laws, and rules.
What You Will Do
Performs technical inspections of the condition, design, operation, and installation of steam boilers and other pressure vessels for compliance with the NYC Construction Code, Zoning Resolution, other pertinent laws, and rules. Responds to, reports, and investigates accidents, incidents, and complaints.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Requires a valid High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer's License or a Boiler Inspector Certificate of Competency issued by the New York State Department of Labor. Must have five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a boiler maker or equivalent experience.
Requirements
- Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a boiler maker or equivalent experience
- Valid High Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer's License or a Boiler Inspector Certificate of Competency issued by the New York State Department of Labor
- Completion of an apprentice program in the boiler trade or boiler inspection and one of the following: two years of experience as a boiler maker or 60 credits towards a degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology
