Role Overview

The Boiler Operator is a member of the maintenance team responsible for operating and maintaining the boiler system, ensuring safe and efficient operation, and performing mechanical repairs. The position requires working in extreme environments, both hot and cold, and may involve weekend and overtime work.

What You Will Do

Key responsibilities include ensuring safe work practices, attending training activities, ensuring sanitation and housekeeping, and performing duties as assigned by the Manager. The Boiler Operator will also ensure the operation of the boiler system is conducted efficiently and safely, and will perform tasks such as preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of related experience, a valid steam engineer's license, and the ability to read and interpret written instructions, manufacturers' manuals, and engineering drawings. The candidate should also be proficient in water testing and conditioning, and the safe operation of the high-pressure steam boiler.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training
  • Valid steam engineer's license (MN Special Engineer's License to MN 1st Class B License)
  • CIRO certification within 1 year
  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions, manufacturers' manuals, and engineering drawings
  • Proficient in water testing and conditioning, and the safe operation of the high-pressure steam boiler
