Role Overview

The New York City Police Department's Property Clerk Division is seeking a qualified candidate to perform bookkeeping functions related to financial records, including computations, postings, and reconciliations. The role is part of a team that accepts, catalogs, and safeguards property coming into the custody of the department. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the community to enforce the law and preserve peace.

What You Will Do

Perform computations and/or supervisory bookkeeping functions related to financial records, including computations of ordinary difficulty and responsibility, posting financial data, and examining demands for accuracy.

Requirements

  • Completion of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university, including 6 credits in accounting
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization, and two years of satisfactory full-time bookkeeping experience
  • A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above
