Role OverviewThe Bus Assistant will assist the bus driver in the safe and reliable transportation of students. This includes assisting students with entering or exiting the bus, monitoring passengers to ensure safety regulations are followed, and exercising student management through communication and discipline.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include assisting students with seat belts, car seats, or wheelchair restraints, serving as a role model for students, and documenting and reporting any violations or conduct concerns.

Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age (19 years of age for New York School Bus Assistants)
- Must meet physical and medical requirements
- Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training and attend safety meetings and in-service meetings
- Must have a high degree of attention to detail and considerable dexterity
- Ability to relate to and work well with children
- Ability to maintain effective pupil behavior management
- High level of professionalism and diplomacy skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and assist students when necessary
