Job Description
Transportation Planning and Management Division (TPM) is seeking a Bus Seating Planner to plan locations for benches and leaning bars for NYC DOT’s Universal Bus Stop Seating Initiative. The Bus Seating Planner will act as the long-term manager of the Initiative and play a critical role in DOT’s goal to install a bench or leaning bar at every eligible bus stop in New York City in ten years.

Requirements

  • Supervising the analysis of existing bus stop conditions to determine suitability for seating
  • Preparing seating installation site plans
  • Planning the locations of seating elements within capital projects
  • Producing grant reports and maintaining grant deadlines
  • Providing authoritative interpretation of complex problems related to siting evaluation of seating assets
  • Keeping accurate records in a Microsoft Access database
  • Coordinating within Furniture and Operations and other units within NYC DOT
  • Reviewing fabrication and installation budget proposals
  • Providing technical assistance and training to junior staff
  • Inspecting installations of seating elements
  • Making recommendations on seating policies and procedures
  • Liaising with community groups and other stakeholders
