Role Overview

The Buyer/Planner 1 is responsible for performing assigned duties to optimize the effectiveness of the supply chain function. This includes planning, inventory control, kanban implementation/utilization, lead-time reduction, engineering change notice/new product launch material planning, total cost reduction activities, and some procurement activity. The Buyer/Planner 1 works under limited supervision and is responsible for releasing/orders materials and product to established supply base, ensuring satisfactory quality and delivery to meet Company objectives and customer requirements.

What You Will Do

The Buyer/Planner 1 will assure optimum inventory/kanban levels and on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and transportation charges. They will also implement policies/procedures/processes that ensure the accurate processing of inventory and production transactions, including responsibility for the kanban process for material delivery.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in materials and/or purchasing or industrial and/or related field experience, and a basic understanding of machine capabilities and shop processes. They will be able to read blueprints, exercise moderate degree of judgment, and work under limited supervision.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with minimum 2 years of college
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in materials and/or purchasing or industrial and/or related field experience
  • Basic understanding of machine capabilities and shop processes
