Role Overview

The Cafeteria Food Tech is responsible for preparing food, maintaining a safe and sanitary kitchen, and interacting positively with students, faculty, and administration. The role requires cross-training in kitchen operations, computerized program systems, customer service, team work, personal hygiene, and safety. The position involves daily contact with colleagues and vendors, and weekly contact with the public to resolve problems or negotiate solutions.

What You Will Do

The main responsibilities of the Cafeteria Food Tech include preparing food using standardized recipes, maintaining kitchen equipment, serving food portions, accurately reporting food usage, and performing record keeping. The role also involves receiving and dating food/supply deliveries, putting away inventory, and fostering a harmonious team environment.

Why It Might Be a Fit

To be successful in this role, an individual must have a high school diploma or GED, complete the Louisiana Department of Education's Professional Standards Training requirements each year, and have successfully completed the Phase I training course within the first year of hire. Previous school cafeteria experience is preferred. The role requires strong interpersonal, delegation, motivation, and supervisory skills, as well as knowledge of kitchen operations, safety, and proper food handling.
