Role OverviewJoin the NYC Department of Transportation’s Budget and Capital Program Management (BCPM) / Capital Budget Unit (CBU) team to contribute to the management, development, and execution of DOT’s $34 billion, ten-year capital program. The position will support the Director and Assistant Director in a variety of capital budget functions, with opportunities to take on independent work and serve as a lead analyst for one or more capital program areas.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities will include analyzing new capital need proposals; supporting Capital Plan updates and Capital Commitment Plan submissions; facilitating Certificate-to-Proceed (CP) approvals by coordinating Q&A; tracking project delivery and performance; analyzing inactive encumbrances; supporting capital project mapping and Asset Information Management System (AIMS) reporting; tracking Mayoral initiatives; and preparing ad-hoc reports and analyses for management.

The analyst should be comfortable working with large datasets, developing clear and effective spreadsheets and presentations, conducting research and forecasting for updates to the City’s Financial Management System (FMS), and coordinating with OMB, DOT divisions, and other City agencies.
Requirements
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, statistics, finance, management, business administration, public administration, public policy or related field
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in one or more of the course areas of economics, statistics, finance, management, mathematics, business administration, public administration, and public policy
- One year of satisfactory full-time experience in one or more of the fields of finance; economic, fiscal or statistical research; policy analysis; or quantitative, business, market or financial analysis
