Role Overview

The Captain will be responsible for steering, navigating, and operating tug and barges in a safe and efficient manner. The role involves setting courses, determining voyage plans, and monitoring deck operations. The Captain will also be responsible for managing the vessel's crew, ensuring the vessel's seaworthiness, and performing various administrative tasks.

What You Will Do

The Captain will perform tasks such as steering and navigating the vessel, monitoring deck operations, and managing the crew. The role also involves performing basic first aid, using a computer and various software programs, and communicating with crew members, customers, and other entities.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of work experience as a Master of Towing on a vessel of no less than 200 gross tons. The candidate should also have a valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Master of Towing Upon Great Lakes, Inland Waters, and Western Rivers, as well as a valid United States Coast Guard Medical Certificate.

Requirements

  • Reliable Transportation to and from Work
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Acceptable Driving Record
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Valid United States Coast Guard Medical Certificate
  • Valid Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Master of Towing Upon Great Lakes, Inland Waters, and Western Rivers
  • At Least Five Years of Work Experience as a Master of Towing on a Vessel of No Less than 200 Gross Tons
