Career Development Specialist

The Career Development Specialist is responsible for preparing students for their future careers through personalized and group instruction, work-based learning opportunities, advanced career training (ACT), and partnerships with other training providers (OTP). The specialist collaborates with multiple departments to provide career counseling, transition planning, and placement services that adhere to compliance and documentation standards. The specialist aids students in transitioning into jobs, apprenticeships, military service, or further education.

What You Will Do

Provide student support in the areas of career development and career readiness, meet monthly assigned placement goals, establish linkages with employers and other training providers, and ensure the establishment of WBL sites, transportation, and related services.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have above-average public speaking skills, experience in sales, marketing, or counseling, and the ability to work evening hours and periodic weekends. Experience in case management and job development is preferred.

Requirements

• Above average public speaking skills and experience in same
• Above average verbal and written communication skills
• Above average organizational, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrated ability to meet placement and performance goals
• Computer literacy specifically Internet, Email, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Ability to work evening hours and periodic weekends
• Ability to travel periodically
• One (1) year experience in a performance-based environment and sales, marketing, or counseling related services preferred
• Experience in case management and/or job development, resume writing; interview skills; job search skills; accessing community resources (childcare, legal and health); housing; transportation; educational opportunities; and financial planning preferred
• Valid State Driver's License
