Job Description
Role Overview

As a Carpenter at Detroit Receiving Hospital, you will perform routine repair, maintenance, and limited new construction of structural woodwork, equipment, and fixtures. You will work under general supervision, inspecting work sites, reading blueprints, and calculating material quantities. You will operate powered machinery, maintain quality finishes, and perform tasks such as measuring, sawing, and fastening.

What You Will Do

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include performing tasks such as measuring, sawing, and fastening, operating powered machinery, and maintaining required tolerances of sizes to produce quality finishes. You will also assist in pining locks, cut keys, and install built-in locks on narcotics cabinets and drawers.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This role requires strong skills in reading, writing, and speaking English, as well as the ability to safely operate power saws, drills, and routers. You will also need to make sound decisions regarding repair work, including knowledge of supplies, materials, parts substitutions, building codes, and equipment records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduated from a trade or vocational school or eight years' related experience
  • Experience as a locksmith is helpful
