Role Overview

Thompson Palm Springs Resort is seeking an exceptional Catering Sales Manager to lead one of Southern California's most exciting resort event destinations. The role is responsible for achieving assigned catering and banquet revenue goals by selling, planning, and servicing events. Reporting directly to the Director of Catering & Special Events, this position drives revenue through proactive selling, strategic upselling, and exceptional client service.

What You Will Do

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients from contract turnover through post-event follow-up, coordinating catering menus, event details, billing, and on-site logistics. Conduct hotel tours, site inspections, and client meetings, while collaborating with Food & Beverage, Culinary, Operations, and Sales teams to ensure flawless event execution. Maximize catering revenue by recommending menu enhancements and premium experiences, and conduct post-event follow-up to secure future business.

Candidates should have a minimum of two years of hotel catering, event management, sales, or hospitality experience, with luxury or lifestyle hotel experience preferred. The role offers a budgeted salary range of $72,000-$92,000, health/dental/vision insurance after 30 days, 401k with company match, paid parental leave, paid holidays, and free/discounted hotel rooms at Hyatt Hotels. This position is NOT available for remote or hybrid work, but relocation is available.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of hotel catering, event management, sales, or hospitality experience; luxury or lifestyle hotel experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of catering operations, banquet planning, food and beverage, menu development, and pricing
  • Proven ability to sell, negotiate, influence, and build strong relationships with clients and business partners
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration skills with a guest-first mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hotel sales systems; experience with Envision and Social Tables preferred
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands require
  • A passion for delivering personalized service and creating memorable guest experiences
