Cattle Procurement Associate

As a Cattle Procurement Associate, you will be trained in various areas to learn skills and gain knowledge vital to succeed in a procurement leadership role. You will be placed in a territory where you will purchase grain-fed cattle to be sent to one of Cargill's harvest facilities. This role enables you to become familiar with the workflow of the operations, and to develop knowledge of meat processing production, including food safety and overall production management.

What You Will Do

Your main responsibilities will include timely communication to producers and fellow employees involved with trading, transporting, harvesting, and payment of cattle. You will maintain relationships with producers in your territory, accurately evaluate the quality of cattle, and enter estimates into the procurement system. You will also collect key industry certifications and documentation from producers and verify producer information is accurately represented in the procurement system.

Requirements

• Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
• Currently pursuing or have recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Agriculture, Business, Economics, Finance or related degree with graduation dates between December 2026 and August 2027
• Willing and able to relocate anywhere in the U.S. for assigned territory
• Basic understanding of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and live cattle trading activities
• Strong negotiation skills
• A desire and willingness to work around and with livestock producers
• Demonstrated strong conflict resolutions skills
• Ability to hand multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Ability to work optimally with individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds and cultures
• Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually
• Strong communication skills – written and oral
