Role OverviewThe CDL Class A Driver (LTL) is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to deliver and pick up palletized freight and/or large shipments. The job involves conducting pre-trip inspections, verifying load-related documentation, and collecting payment for shipments. The driver must possess good customer service and organizational skills, and be able to work independently and make quick decisions.
What You Will Do
Deliver palletized freight in a timely manner to customers and pick up freight from shippers. Verify all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate. Collect payment for shipments as necessary and return bill of ladings to the office for billing purposes.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate a manual transmission, possess a doubles/triples endorsement, and have good customer service and organizational skills. The driver must also be able to work independently and make quick decisions.
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license with a good driving record that meets company standards
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.
- Ability to work with all types of freight, including hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
