Certified Nurse Aide

The Certified Nursing Assistant provides nursing and nursing related services to residents consistent with each resident's comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care. All resident care is provided in a manner that meets the resident's physical, mental, and psychosocial needs and enables the individual to attain or maintain the highest practicable level of functioning. The Certified Nursing Assistant maintains a 'homelike' environment for the residents, protects and promotes resident's rights and assists the person to maintain independence and control to the greatest extent possible.

What You Will Do

Performs basic patient care duties such as bathing, feeding and assisting with activities of daily living and designated unsterile procedures such as enemas, sitz bath, intake and output, blood pressures. Makes occupied and unoccupied beds, maintaining an orderly environment. Provides direct care to residents to improve or maintain the resident's abilities according to the resident's plan of care. Assists with the planning, implementation and evaluation of plans of care for assigned residents and reports information about conditions, responses to interventions and suggestions for alternative approaches to the Unit Charge Nurse.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This role requires a High School graduate or GED and successful completion of a state-approved nurse aide training and competency evaluation program. Prior experience giving personal care to impaired individuals in a health care setting is preferred. The position involves repeated motions of pulling, pushing, bending, stooping, lifting, and supporting while on duty, with the ability to lift and position patients of various heights and weights.

Requirements

• High School graduate or GED
• Successful completion of a nurse aide training and competency evaluation program approved by the State, within 4 months of date of hire; or successful completion of a State approved nurse aide training and competency evaluation program and no break in service of 24 months or longer
• Acceptable verification of training and competency evaluation from the State Nurse Aide Registry concerning abuse, neglect, mistreatment of residents or misappropriation of resident's property
