Job Description
Role Overview

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) on the Cardiology Unit at Cumberland Medical Center, you will function as a direct patient caregiver, performing tasks to assist registered nurses. You will provide hands-on care, assistance with ADL's and specified technical tasks for a group of patients under the supervision of the Team Leader. You may also function as a sitter for patients in need of full-time supervision in the hospital.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include taking and recording temperature, pulse, respiration rates, blood pressures, weights, heights, and intake-output measurements. You will also encourage patients to turn, cough, and take deep breaths and to use incentive spirometry as specified by Plan of Care. Additionally, you will ambulate and assist patients in and out of bed, into wheelchairs, and transport when necessary.

To be successful in this role, you must be able to operate a computer, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and have a strong understanding and knowledge of patient care. You must also be able to read with comprehension, write legibly, and perform basic arithmetic computation.

Requirements

  • CNA Licensure from the State of Tennessee
  • CPR certification
  • Hospital experience preferred
  • Medical terminology a plus
  • Ability to operate a computer
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
