Role OverviewThe Certified Surgical Technician facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.
What You Will Do
Assists with the care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment. Maintains open communication with members of the surgical team to assure a collaborative work environment is maintained.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The role requires knowledge of basic sciences, such as anatomy and physiology, microbiology, etc., asepsis and sterile techniques, and operating room techniques. The candidate should be able to interpret information to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific need.
Requirements
- Certified through a Nationally Recognized Certifying Agency (e.g., NBSTSA or NCCT)
- CPR certification within 6 months from date of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associates Degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology
