Role OverviewAzura is seeking an experienced Chemist to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries Office of Sustainable Fisheries and the National Seafood Inspection Laboratory (NSIL). The Chemist will provide laboratory support for NSIL’s U.S. Market Survey, Seafood Inspection Program, and new lobster biotoxin testing project.
What You Will Do
Conduct chemical, microbiological, and food safety analyses, evaluate seafood processors’ compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements, and support seafood export requirements.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, biology, marine biology, or related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Experience providing standardized technical laboratory support
- Working knowledge of the techniques, methods, scientific terminology, and procedures of a technical area
- Experience in adjusting and using technical equipment and instruments
- Experience in evaluating and analyzing data
- Ability to adapt and carry out established tests or calculations
- Experience in recording and disseminating results
- Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal skills
- Proficiency in working with Adobe Acrobat and Google Suite
