Role Overview

The Chief Engineer is responsible for supervising and supporting the daily maintenance and repair of hotel facilities, systems, and equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety, and guest comfort. This role provides hands-on technical leadership across preventive maintenance, work order execution, life-safety readiness, and coordination with other departments.

What You Will Do

Perform and/or oversee repairs and maintenance for guestrooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and building systems. Support preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, kitchen equipment, life-safety systems, and other critical infrastructure.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This position requires a minimum of 5 years of hotel, commercial building, or facilities maintenance experience, including broad trade knowledge. Demonstrated ability to lead work in a union environment and follow collective bargaining agreement requirements is also essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hotel, commercial building, or facilities maintenance experience
  • Broad trade knowledge (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead work in a union environment and follow collective bargaining agreement requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to prioritize and respond effectively in a fast-paced, high-occupancy property
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and work order systems
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends/holidays and participate in an on-call rotation
