Job Description

The CFO ensures HFHP’s long-term financial health, stability, and growth. A key member of the Leadership Team, the CFO shapes financial strategy, safeguards resources, and provides insight on how financing and funding fuel mission expansion. This leadership role manages the Controller and Director of ReStore, fostering their accountability, effectiveness, and professional growth
Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership
* Align financial strategy with organizational goals in partnership with the CEO, Board, and Leadership Team.
* Forecast trends and develop models that drive sound, data-informed decision-making.
* Direct the annual budgeting process and hold Program Directors accountable for managing costs and performance.

Financial Oversight
* Manage cash flow and present clear financial updates to the CEO, Finance Committee, and Board.
* Ensure accurate, timely accounting; analyze budget-to-actuals and recalibrate forecasts as needed.
* Design and execute financing strategies (mortgage sales, securitizations, tax credits, credit lines, construction financing, home pricing).
* Leverage Habitat’s mortgage portfolio responsibly to unlock capital and fuel mission growth.
* Monitor mortgage portfolio performance and delinquency.

Compliance and Risk Management
* Oversee annual audit, Form 990, workers’ compensation audit, other financial audits.
* Enforce compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, reporting requirements, and internal controls.
* Manage tracking and financial compliance on complex, multi-year grants.
* Administer organizational insurance coverage (workers’ comp, liability, fleet, D&O, property, medical, HOA, etc.).
* Lead as staff liaison for the Finance and Investment Committees of the Board; contribution to other Board committees as needed.

Team Leadership
* Lead, mentor, and hold accountable the Controller and Director of ReStore.
* Build professional growth opportunities and foster cross-department collaboration.
* Streamline and improve accounting systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements:
* Bachelor’s in Accounting; CPA preferred.
* 5–8 years’ experience as Controller/Director of Finance.
* Proven supervisory and team leadership experience.
* Strong analytical and strategic planning skills; data-driven decision-making.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Advanced Microsoft Office and accounting software skills; comfort with technology.
* Experience with Abila (or similar GL), Paycom (HRIS), Salesforce (CRM) preferred.
* Nonprofit finance experience strongly valued.

Benefits
* Comprehensive benefits. This position is eligible for medical, dental, ancillary benefits, paid vacation, sick time, and holidays.
* Compensation: $150,000–$160,000/yr. Commensurate with experience.
