Role Overview

The Child and Family Conferencing Specialist will facilitate conferences and other related duties to support Child Protection divisional best practices. The role focuses on family support, well-being, child safety, risk, and permanency. The Specialist will ensure the most appropriate safety decisions and safety plans are developed to prevent removal when safe to do so and/or decide on the best suitable out of home placement that will keep the child safe from imminent danger and harm.

What You Will Do

The candidate will be responsible for attending and facilitating all Family Team Conferences (FTCs), addressing critical issues, concerns of the child and family, and making recommendations for referrals and resources when appropriate. The candidate will also prepare and complete administrative functions, including timely documentation of conference, data, action plans, and all other reports related to Family Team Conferencing.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in Social Work and a valid New York State Registration as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW). The candidate will have substantial experience in one or more of the following modalities of practice: facilitation of family team conferences, clinical group work with children, youth, parents, or individual families, or the conduct of professional training on topics related to child and family services.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work
  • Valid New York State Registration as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW)
  • At least one year of full-time, satisfactory, post-graduate experience in one or more of the following modalities of practice: facilitation of family team conferences, clinical group work with children, youth, parents, or individual families, or the conduct of professional training on topics related to child and family services
