Job Description
The Florida Department of Children and Families is seeking a Child Protective Investigator to conduct investigations of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and special conditions for children, collect information, assess danger threats, and arrange emergency placements. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, four years of law enforcement experience, or an associate's degree and two years of professional work experience. The position requires night, weekend, and holiday work, and may involve exposure to hazardous conditions.

Requirements

  • Conduct investigations of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and special conditions for children
  • Collect information through observation and interviews with children, parents, relatives, and neighbors
  • Assess danger threats, child vulnerabilities, and caregiver protective capacities to determine if a child is safe
  • Arrange emergency placement for children who cannot safely remain in their home
  • Notify state attorney, law enforcement, and child protection teams
  • Provide families with service linkages to agency and community resources
  • Conduct initial and ongoing child present and impending danger assessments
  • Report indications of abuse, neglect, and abandonment to the Florida Abuse Hotline
