Role Overview

The Childcare Activity Leader - After School Teacher assists in planning, developing, and implementing classroom activities for children in a daycare program. They ensure the children's social, physical, spiritual, and mental development, prioritize their safety and well-being, and work cooperatively with other staff and partners.

What You Will Do

The main responsibilities include planning weekly lesson plans, documenting attendance and incidents, maintaining classroom appearance and supplies, and communicating with parents. The Childcare Activity Leader must also follow state regulations, child abuse and neglect laws, and YMCA guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university (preferred)
  • Six months experience working in early childhood field (strongly preferred)
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and completion of YMCA Driver Orientation (for employees who will perform driving responsibilities)
