Job Description
The City of New York is hiring a Civil Engineer I for the Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations. The successful candidate will assist the Engineer-in-Charge and provide guidance to staff on CPIs and drainage plans, and develop capital project initiatives for water and sewer projects.

Requirements

  • Assist the Engineer-in-Charge and provide guidance to staff on CPIs and drainage plans
  • Develop Capital Project Initiations (CPIs) for water and sewer projects
  • Develop drainage plans, engineering studies, and hydraulic analyses
  • Ensure capital projects are in accordance with the Bureau's Strategic plan
  • Review various iterations of design plans, design drawings, and specifications
  • Monitor construction progress and attend pre-constructing meetings and/or construction progress meetings
  • Respond to a high level of inquiries and correspondence on the capital program
  • Coordinate with other Divisions/Bureaus within DEP and outside agencies
  • Attend field visits when necessary
