Role OverviewThe Class C Lineman is responsible for the Town's electrical distribution system, including installation and repair of overhead and underground electric circuits, installation of services to businesses and dwelling, and some limited maintenance of substations.
What You Will Do
Operates line and service trucks, participates in hanging and connecting transformers, digs trenches for underground lines, and assists in the installation of primary and secondary underground cables.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up-to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds constantly to lift objects.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year experience as an Electric Groundsman
- Minimum of one year experience with electrical principles and functions
- Skilled in maneuvering equipment at the job site
- Graduation from High School supplemented by technical training in electrical principles and some experience in a skilled trade; preferably electrical; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interrupt electrical schematics
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Possession of a valid North Carolina Class A or higher CDL
