Job Description
Role Overview

The Class Size Teacher will be responsible for instructional planning, providing written lesson plans, and preparing students for the objectives of the instructional programs. They will also be responsible for evaluating pupils' progress, maintaining current and accurate records of pupils' achievements, and promoting anti-vandalism programs in the schools. The Class Size Teacher will establish and maintain reasonable rules of conduct within the classroom and on school grounds, consistent with the provisions of the Chicago Public Schools' Uniform Discipline Code.

What You Will Do

The Class Size Teacher will be responsible for the following day-to-day responsibilities: instructional planning, providing written lesson plans, preparing students for the objectives of the instructional programs, evaluating pupils' progress, maintaining current and accurate records of pupils' achievements, promoting anti-vandalism programs, establishing and maintaining reasonable rules of conduct, and promoting student growth in self-discipline and positive self-concept.

The Class Size Teacher must possess the following qualifications: knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements, knowledge of contemporary principles and practice of teaching, and knowledge of classroom and behavior management techniques. Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs, ability to cooperate with the school faculty and administration in the development and implementation of an articulated program of instruction, ability to work effectively with pupils, parent and guardians, staff members, and community representatives in providing an appropriate educational program; ability to understand the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns of pupils.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and course work required to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Possession of at least one of the following valid teaching licenses issued by the Illinois State Board of Education: a Professional Educator License (PEL), an Educator License with Stipulations (ELS)
