Role OverviewThe Nurse Educator is responsible for facilitating the development of clinical excellence through active participation in orientation, training/role transition, internships/externships, career development, continuing education/continued competence and academic partnerships.
What You Will Do
Utilizes principles of education, adult learning and, for nurses, bases all activities on the professional growth pathway of the Novice to Expert continuum. Creates, plans, implements and coordinates orientation for individuals new to the department.

Serves as a role model and resource to the nursing staff, provides consultation, and participates in the development of nursing care standards in the department. Promotes excellence in nursing as a subject matter expert of the Professional Practice Model.
Requirements
- Current licensure to practice professional nursing in New York State required.
- Minimum 5 years nursing experience with 2 years in acute or critical care unit.
- Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Current ACLS and PALS provider certification from the American Heart Association preferred.
- Prior experience as a Nurse Educator preferred.
- BSN is required and MSN is preferred.
