Role OverviewPlan machining by studying blueprints, materials, specifications, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation.
What You Will Do
Fabricate tools, jigs, and fixtures to support production of parts from blueprint sketches and/or verbal instructions from engineers. Setup and program CNC mills and lathes. Detect and report unusual conditions and special problems.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Ability to design and create fixtures, calculate requirements, and maintain safe operations. Demonstrated proficiency with manual mills and lathes, inspection equipment, and ability to make a program setup a machine and run a part independently and proficiently.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Certification in CNC programming
- Demonstrated proficiency with manual mills and lathes
- Demonstrated proficiency with inspection equipment
- Ability to provide a completed part from raw material to a finished component/assembly independently and proficiently
- Mechanical aptitude
- Hands-on
- Attention to detail
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction) and maintain an understanding of the decimal and metric systems
- Able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization
- Willingness to learn and advance
