Role OverviewMedStar Health seeks an experienced inpatient coder to join their Coding Quality Assurance team. The ideal candidate will have experience in inpatient coding, with auditing experience strongly preferred.
What You Will Do
The Inpatient Coding Quality Review Specialist is responsible for providing expert review to ensure the quality and integrity of medical records, validating ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, and reviewing Quality indicators.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The role requires a current Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential through AHIMA, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 years inpatient coding experience
- 3-4 years Auditing experience
- AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) CCS required
- Certificate as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC AAPC) preferred
