Job Description
UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks a Coding Specialist III to perform complex coding activities in a manner that meets productivity and quality standards. The successful applicant will work under general supervision to code and audit patient encounters, understand governmental and payer policies, and lead, train, and/or mentor lower-level coding employees.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 6 years coding experience
  • Coding certification or billing/coding diploma
  • Epic electronic health record systems and 3M coding software proficiency
  • ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT code sets knowledge
  • Department procedures understanding
  • Anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, disease processes, and teaching physician documentation guidelines knowledge
