Role OverviewThe Cold Case Investigator will assist in reviewing and cataloging Homicide and Sexual Assault cases, evaluating each case to determine which ones meet the criteria to investigate further. They will be exclusively assigned to the Forensic Sciences Unit Cold Case team, allowing for a focused investigator to be invested throughout long-term investigations.
What You Will Do
Conduct thorough and professional investigations, mentor and assist junior investigators, continue case management and review, and provide on-going status updates to the Chief and Deputy Chief of the Forensic Science Unit.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have a valid certificate of completion from a New York State Basic Course for Police Officers academy, a valid NY State driver's license, and be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Prior experience working within the New York City criminal justice system and/or experience as a police officer within the State of New York is a plus.
