Job Description
The College Intern - Strategy role provides a professional learning experience in the Office of Strategy, gaining practical work experience in various areas, including GIS, data analytics, data science, and more. The position is a 32-hour per week internship that runs from June to early August, working on-site.

Requirements

  • Develops process maps and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for NTD reports, Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) coordination, Formula Funding allocation, Grant Writing, and other responsibilities.
  • Develops tracking tool for METRO's federally funded sponsored projects within the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP).
  • Develops visualizations (dashboards/reports) and performs spatial analysis using tools like Tableau and ArcGIS.
  • Automates data processing and reporting as applicable.
  • Assists in preparation and development of discretionary grant applications.
  • Contributes to departmental goals and objectives.
  • Suggests solutions to business issues and challenges.
  • Attends and participates in meetings.
  • Assists in functional and/or business analytics.
  • Gathers and scrubs data for analysis and reports.
  • Assists with client consulting and support.
  • Assists with writing grants, procedures guide, presentations, training materials, etc.
  • Contributes to a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
  • Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency's Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
  • Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
