Role Overview

This position is responsible for examining, evaluating, and authorizing approval of customer applications for various types of credit, including commercial loans, real estate loans, and consumer loans. The Commercial Lender will work with various levels of sophistication amongst borrowers, complete several tasks at the same time, and work well with several different personality types. The role requires a thorough knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements, bank products and services, and loan documents. The Commercial Lender will also assist in gathering information and documents necessary for preparation of loan documents and perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do

The Commercial Lender will interview applicants and request specified information for loan application, analyze applicant's financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting a loan, and correspond with or interview applicants or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information. The role also involves studying economic trends of a firm(s) or individual(s) branch or industry to predict probable success of a new customer or the future success of an existing customer, and gathering data and information needed to ascertain the likelihood of repayment and develops a strategy for mitigating the risks associated with potential problems of repayment.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in business, finance, and accounting or the equivalent through work experience, and 3-5 years experience as a commercial lender. The candidate should have effective oral and written communication skills, self-motivated, organizing, prioritizing, problem-solving, and calculating abilities. The Commercial Lender will also be responsible for managing various problem loan assets, ensuring loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy, and composing letters and other correspondence with no instruction.

Requirements

  • Accounting Background or minimum of 2 years of Financial Statement Analysis
  • Thorough knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of bank products and services
  • Knowledge of the terms and vocabulary associated with loan documents
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated
