Role OverviewEffectively manages risk selection for new and renewal business in an assigned Commercial Lines underwriting territory. Influences overall profitability, rate adequacy, and acceptability of risks being placed in CAR. Builds and maintains strong relationships with agents, Business Development Representatives, and Voluntary new and renewal underwriters.
What You Will Do
Assesses submissions, categorizes, and directs next steps based on risk assessment. Selects, declines, or provides alternatives for risks reviewed and exercises judgment in pricing acceptable risks. Underwrites in one or more states. Represents the Company at industry meetings and hearings as requested.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent, related experience
- 2 - 4 years of experience as a Commercial Lines Underwriter I or equivalent at another insurer, or underwriting services supervisor
- Prior experience as a Commercial Lines Underwriter I or equivalent at another insurer, or underwriting services supervisor is required
- Demonstrates ability to exercise business judgement, effective oral and written communications, sales and negotiations skills, analytical skills, and time management within the current job assignment
