Role Overview

The Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing commercial origination, trading activities, and business development for a specific location within the grain commodity industry. This role involves leading a team of merchandisers, partnering with Operations Managers to ensure safety and profitability, and driving business growth through strategic planning and customer engagement.

What You Will Do

Manage grain origination and trading activities at the location. Execute commercial strategies to meet regional goals for volume, margin, and profitability. Manage facility financials, including budgeting, forecasting, new trades, etc. Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and risk mitigation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Finance, Ag Business, Ag Economics or Economics
  • 3-5 years of experience in grain origination, commodity trading, or related roles
  • Aggressive, self-motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Excellent communications, computer and public relations skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong problem solving and conceptual thinking capabilities
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects
