Role OverviewThe New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is seeking a Community Assistant to perform general housekeeping duties, maintain sanitary conditions, and assist in monitoring client program activities. The role requires a commitment to accountability, empathy, and equity. The Community Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment with a large team and a several billion-dollar budget to meet the diverse needs of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness.
What You Will Do
The Community Assistant will perform tasks such as cleaning restrooms, dorms, laundry rooms, common areas, and other work areas, removing and disposing of litter and garbage, distributing and replenishing toiletries, and distributing and exchanging linen. Other tasks may include loading and unloading deliveries, stocking supplies, maintaining inventory records, transporting household supplies and equipment, and providing client escort service.
